My role
Design lead, strategy, user research
Amaz0n employs third-party carriers in regions of the world where it does not have its own networks of supply and pickup. These 3P carriers work in tandem with Amaz0n teams, processes and requirements. But to work more efficiently, Amaz0n provides them with data regarding forecasted volumes and package counts so that the 3P carriers can plan accordingly. Amaz0n also needs to place ad-hoc requests regarding small/large volumes and lets the carriers respond to its requests. Amaz0n monitors all this and various KPIs (such as on-time delivery) of the 3P carriers are noted and this information is relayed to the carriers.
CarrierLogistics helps Amaz0n provide all this information relating to Forecast, Ad-hoc Capacity requests and Performance to 3P carriers.
The landing page provides information on benefits of Carrier logistics for its users and FAQs. The onboarding workflow enables users to:
Create their user profile
Add company account (in case of multiple company accounts based on region)
Add additional user profiles
Granularity of data access can be maintained by the tool so that onboarded users only see the relevant data useful to them.
3P carriers can view the latest weekly, bi-weekly and monthly data on upcoming forecasted volumes and package counts. The users can further deep-dive by downloading the related excel files and pivoting data to see more insights. A comparison is also provided which shows actuals versus projected for the past month. I designed the forecast metric visualisation so that the users can view metrics for the most viewed time spans in one chart. Comparisons of actual vs forecasted can be understood in the same chart.
Carriers are able to view capacity requests which are actionable. Details of the request including information on upcoming capacity requests lanes, number of trucks required and cut-off times to respond to the request are provided. Once they make their decision on accepting the request they can see a real-time detailed timeline of events related to their request.
Regular updates on carrier performance with respect to critical KPIs enable carriers to manage their performance and identify areas to focus on. Carriers are able to easily access and download performance reports from the tool and perform actions like setting alarms to alert them. This helps them take corrective action and manage their operations more effectively.
